Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:44:04 PDT
Or so they say. I need a break from all the depressing news about the food crisis, corruption scandals, and all the other distressing events during these most interesting of times, and want write about something of little relevance but has fascinated me for years. While re-reading some of my books and surfing the web for a recent post on Bataan Day, I came across the Wikipedia page of Henry L. Stimson, U.S. Secretary of War during the second world war and former Governor-General of the Phili

PROs take note: the battle for Google visability begins on 5th May

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:44:15 PDT
Another busy working week means another 3,000 unread feeds and so I came across this news story in a magazine (yes, I know! Crazy huh). Personally I think the stroy is of huge importance to the PROs and posing quite a significant threat to the industry. That said, I haven't yet seen the story in PR Week or on other UK blogs (bearing in mind I haven;t read many feeds this past week!). According to Marketing, from 5th May Google plans to open up its keyword bidding allowing anyone to bid for ke

Sandra Bullock Almost Killed By Drugged-Up Driver

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:45:05 PDT
Nineties heartthrob Sandra Bullock has narrowly escaped death after her car was hit by a drug-crazed female driver. The drug in question is the one which is responsible for more deaths each year than cocaine, heroin and crack combined. It is the one which is smelt on the breath of 40% of reported violent criminals, 78% of assaulters and 88% of criminal damagers. Worst of all, it is the drug most responsible for the current record-breaking human-population on earth. It’s alcohol - obvio

By TigerHawk at 4/20/2008 08:45:00 AM Even the New York Times, which has done its level best to promote the myth of Iraqi incompetence, acknowledges that the government has won the battle of Basra... ...but only after air and artillery strikes by American and British forces cleared the way for Iraqi troops to move into the Hayaniya district and other remaining Mahdi Army militia strongholds and begin house-to house searches, Iraqi officials said. Iraqi troops were meeting little resistan

Torturers in the White House: Why Is This Story Being Ignored? “The biggest news of the last week went virtually uncovered by the mainstream, print media. ABC News first reported last Wednesday that top Bush Administration officials, including Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, John Ashcroft, and George Tenet, Colin Powell, and Donald Rumsfeld met to discuss which particular torture techniques should be used against Al Qaeda suspects in U.S. custody.” Original Entry Leave Comment

Microsoft improves Live News search

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:47:13 PDT
Microsoft has redesigned its new search engine, and Pandia likes what it sees. This week Microsoft launched a news version of its news search engine. Actually, for us it was a bit hard to notice the changes at first. We live in Norway, and our Live insisted on delivering the old news search home page for news.live.com, and that page doesn’t even contain the word “news” in the headline! We did find a page with a list of the most popular news topics to the front page, as well as a list of pop

Fallout 3 and Greyness at Bit-Tech.net Posted on April 20, 2008 by briosafreak Bit-tech net has a new Fallout 3 preview: How much of this that Bethesda has really taken on board was something we didn’t really get to see and, because the game is still in alpha and filled with placeholder dialogue, Pete was understandably wary of showing us much of the game’s dialogues. What we can say though is that it has a definite impact on other areas of the game, such as combat and puzzle solving. Wh

Role of Web Analytics in Cross Channel Marketing

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:50:14 PDT
Cross channel marketing exists today, but in its crudest form. The rich integration of customer information and behavioural data with marketing strategy is imminent – it’s just a matter of getting the formula right. The formula we’re talking about has web analytics as the key variable. Web analytics as a standalone solution has limited value, but team it with other customer information and you’ve got powerful information at your fingertips. Think about it. On its own, web analytics has the ca

Yanks Don’t Understand Watson’s Take On Farnsworth

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:50:41 PDT
Via George King: Even though they watched Kyle Farnsworth’s first pitch to Manny Ramirez on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium fly behind the Red Sox slugger’s head, the Yankees were stunned that baseball’s top cop, Bob Watson, yesterday suspended the right-handed reliever for three games. “I am surprised by it,” GM Brian Cashman said before last night’s 6-0 loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards. “Other than that, we will wait for the appeal process. I don’t agree with it.” Manager Joe Girardi

NYC Con Saturday

Following up on Friday’s events, I forgot to make this joke: KC’s badge said “Professional Creator”, which we immediately assumed meant he created professionals. Which he has. I also forgot to mention that we had an enjoyable conversation with Tim Callahan, who edited Teenagers From the Future: Essays on the Legion of Super-Heroes. They had preview copies for sale at the Sequart booth, although no information is available online yet. KC’s already enjoyed diving into the volume. I didn’t pos

Bush was at this point in the 2000 election cycle. In the latest CBS News/New York Times poll, 18 percent of conservatives said they have an unfavorable view of McCain
